The BMJ Infrastructure Leaders Scholarship supports students from Michigan’s Thumb Region pursuing careers in civil engineering, environmental engineering, and surveying, while providing opportunities for mentorship and real-world experience.

Who Can Apply
Applicants must...
- Be a resident of the Thumb Region (Huron, Tuscola, Sanilac, Lapeer, or St. Clair County)
- Be a high school senior or college student enrolled in or accepted to an accredited program in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or surveying/geomatics
- Be in good academic standing (typically GPA 3.0 or higher)
What You’ll Receive
- Scholarship awards of up to $5,000, based on merit and applicant pool
- Opportunity for a paid summer internship with BMJ
- A dedicated mentor to support your academic and professional development
Program Experience
Recipients gain:
- Hands-on experience with real engineering and surveying projects
- Exposure to industry professionals and career pathways
- Practical skills that complement academic learning
Internship participation is strongly encouraged as part of the program experience, though not required.
Future Opportunities
Scholarship recipients receive priority consideration for internships and full-time roles with BMJ, supporting long-term career development within the region.
